VAMFF Day 7 Target Runway

Last day of VAMFF is sadly here, but at least it went out with a bang, with high street department store Target, presenting a full blown runway show. All the fashion ‘it’ people were there, with a frow fully stocked with some of Melbs best bloggers. The show opened with Dami M (winner of last year’s X factor) who, honestly I don’t know much about, but man alive can she sing. While she belted out her second song, the models emerged with some seriously good pieces on their back, a pleasant surprise and a strong signal that Target is working towards becoming a more serious player in the department store ‘fashion’ stakes. Case in point: the cute as pink winter coat in pic #3, seriously relevant right now and executed so well! Winning!

The finale of the show was the presentation of Target’s next collaboration which is the new petits range by Dannii Minogue, which on a side note, brought back memories of when I was about 6 years old and absolutely obsessed with my matching black and silver Dannii for Target, bike pants and tee. Fortunately though this time around, she has opted not to include a matching bike pant & tee combo, instead opting for more accessible basic pieces like blazers, knits and pants.

Sadly, due to my seriously hideous head cold, I didn’t hang around too long to get any street shots post show today, so on that note, on the last day of what’s been a full on amazing week, I suppose it’s time I bid VAMFF 2014 adieu. It’s been real, it’s been fun and most of all, it’s been inspiring. So VAMFF, I guess I’ll be seeing you next year and until then, the countdown for MBFWA is now on, only 14 more sleeps to go. Bring it on Sydney! Boom!

VAMFF Day 5

Day 5 down at Peninsula Pier for VAMFF and the clouds were rolling in, with the skies literally just waiting to open up on us, but thankfully the rain held off and show goers were still more than happy to pose for some happy snaps. With Sass & Bide being one of the designers in the showcase of the night, there was plenty of Sass on the street, along with plenty more colour. Tonight, I’m happy to say the runway pics, like the streetstyle pics, are all mine, as last night I made my first venture into the photographers pit for the show, and well lets just say, the frow has nothing on the pit! Seriously though, what a view! I feel like I’d happily swap into the pit from the frow anyday! Anyway, on the final day of showcase runways, Runway 6 presented by Harpers Bazaar, showcased some incredible pieces from Ellery, Alex Perry, Arthur Galan, Yeojin Bae, Sass & Bide, Carla Zampatti & Lui Hon. While I’m always biased to Sass, Ellery also, is just going to a whole other level of amazingness. Anyway, enough of me jabbering on, here’s the pics from day 5…

VAMFF Day 4

Day 4 already and the week is starting to fly by! Last night saw the Elle Australia & Cosmopolitan runways take place, bringing out yet another bevvy of really really ridiculously good looking people. Colour was what I noticed most last night, with so many bright hues flying around the place in suits, shoes and especially in dresses. I was fortunate enough to snap Hayley Hasselhoff (yep, thats David Hasselhoff’s daughter. I know. Amazing right.) on her way in to the Elle show, where she was quite literally stopping traffic in the most incredibly vibrant beautiful cobalt blue suit I have ever seen. Another suit that caught my eye last night was a super sharp Yeojin Bae fire engine red number which I saw coming about 3 blocks away, amazing. Pint sized beauty, Sheetal from the 3000 Chapter, (who on a side note, is possibly the most lovely person you could ever meet) was also doning some brights, in the cutest digi floral print dress paired back with black peeptoe booties. I also have to mention Lady Petrova & her girls, who literally looked nonstop amazing in soft pastel tones in a textural banquet of goodness.

Now away from the ‘streets’ (pier, more like) the runways showcased more of our best last night, with my fav looks coming from Bianca Spender, CameoCamilla & Marc, Kahlo and Ginger & Smart. Bianca Spender has hit the nail on the head with her tan offering (the big new colour for winter) especially the fully tonal look, while Michael Lo Sordo killed me with his baby pink dress & grey coat combo, perfectly timed for Autumn here in Melbs and perfectly beautiful. Here’s my pics from last night in and around the Pier…

VAMFF Day 3

Day 3 was a bumbling burst of bright colours and boho inspired prints thanks to it being the Grand Showcase, this year, of Camilla. The ever colourful Camilla presented a mind blowing tribal influenced show that spilled onto the pier, with guests flocking to the show decked head to toe in her vivacious prints. In a more understated ivory dress, was L’oreal guest Eva Longoria who is in Melbs especially for the Camilla show as a L’oreal ambassador. Eva arrived alongside Megan Gale, both looking as perfectly flawless as expected. Here’s a bit of what else went on last night in and around Peninsula Pier…

VAMFF Day 2

Day 2 at VAMFF and I was off to the Miss Vogue Australia Runway 1, featuring Bassike, Christopher Esber, Maticevski, Josh Goot, Scanlan Theodore, Willow and new winner of the Tiffany Design Award, Strateas Carlucci. Now in a lineup like that, it’s near impossible to find a fav, but I can tell you right now, I most certainly understand why Strateas Carlucci were awarded the National Design Award, their clothes are absolutely phenomenal, structure and tailored volume like I’ve never seen before, I’m obsessed. Sports luxe styling saw models across all brands, decked with snapbacks, backpacks, birks and sneakers. Maticevski once again made me swoon, with soft structure while Bassike made me want to wear dove grey for the rest of my life.

The show goers also turned it on, with plenty of Goot scooting around the place, here’s a bit of what I snapped…

VAMFF Day 1

Last night David Jones opened the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival with a huuuggge show, featuring some of their greatest designers. The show kicked off the festival in fine form, with DJ’s ambassadors Montana Cox & Jessica Gomes leading the crew, which was made up of a good slathering of ex Australia’s Next Top Model contestants.

As always is the case with fashion events, there was plenty of buzz going on outside the shows, with everyone hustling around in their sunday best, obviously all very busy and important. Upon my arrival, I was super surprised (but also super happy) to see Margaret Zhang casually chatting away by the big Lavazza cup to Nicole Warne, who were both more than happy to oblige to all photo requests. These two mega bloggers looked perfectly relaxed in Michael Lo Sordo (Nicole) and Bassike (Margaret) both brands of DJ’s. The show itself, was incredible with some seriously excellent styling, standouts for me being Bassike and Dion Lee, both for different reasons. Bassike for their uber clean scandi cool style (with Birks) and Dion Lee for his fluid lines and amazing prints. Love! So anyway, here’s a bit of what went on followed by some of my fav looks…
