Moody and broody is the name of the game at Lanvin but somehow, designer Alber Elbaz ensures this doesn’t mean dark, depressing or intense. His deep colours are delivered in soft lightweight fabrics that seem to bounce and fall weightlessly around the body, in an ultra feminine almost heroine kind of way. Beading and fringing and a few shapes were plucked straight out of the 20’s and applied to silky slinky gowns in obscure ways, while slouchy knee high leather boots hung effortlessly on the legs. Elbaz joined the flat shoe phenomenon of the season, hybridising brogues with pointed ankle boots while he sliced and diced a handbag, encouraging women to wrap their bag in and around the arm, squashing in the hand if necessary, all in the name of ease. In my humble opinion, this Lanvin collection is just killer with multiple elements of greatness. Thats all.
