The Dolce & Gabbana boys may be going through some legal woes right now but they sure didn’t show it last night, presenting one of the most beautiful collections of the season. A complete textural delight, the closing red fringed dress and earlier alpaca tops and skirts were insane and new territory for the boys, but naturally, done to perfection. The scene was set with models emerging from behind beautiful big blossom trees, sauntering down the runway to traditional Italian music.
The boys dress the Italian woman better than anyone and this has been their consistent theme for some seasons now, but last nights collection presented the Italian woman after her geological dig into Ancient Sicily. Ironically, gold coins decorated nearly all looks, cinching the waist as belts or playing with the eye in place of spots as a print. Beautiful Imagery of Ancient Roman ruins appeared on flirty dresses, skirts and shirts while elaborate floral embroidery made for the prettiest cherry blossom dresses. The most interesting part of this collection was the introduction of coloured fur which for me, was in it’s best, as a skirt in a teal turquoise colour, paired with a printed shirt, definitely one of my fav looks of the collection. Naturally the copious amounts of gold in this collection kept my jaw on floor, but the accessories were really the other highlight for me, with amazing ornate wedges and heels perfectly over the top.
